We would prefer visitors to arrive by public transport, cycling, or on foot as there will be road closures and no parking around the village on Fair Day. Five Star Taxis are on 01273 846666, Hassocks Station is 1.3 miles away and can be cycled in 10 minutes or walked in about 26 minutes.

Road closures

West Street will be closed to traffic between 08:00 and 20:00 on fair day. This closure runs from the crossroads in the middle of Ditchling to Beaconhurst on the Keymer road.

Diversion signeage will be up from early on Fair Day and there will be marshalls to help enforce the road closures and assist in explaining the diversion routes

About Ditchling Fair

In 1312 King Edward II granted John de Warenne, Lord of the Manor, the right to run a Fair in Ditchling 'in the eve and in the day and in the morrow of St Margaret the Virgin' and thus was to be celebrated on July 20th.
